Why I love film...

Why I love film...

This is a 100% view of a shot I took of a Japonica bush in my yard. One word: Grain. Not just the kind of pseudo grain that you can add through photoshop or lightroom, but muli-colored, natural, truly organic grain. It's what sets film apart from digital in my book and why it's an indespensible tool for photography and will be forever. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-digital. I will always covet my digital cameras and their immediacy and ability to capture exactly how something looks. FWIW, I actually digitized this negative with my Canon T1i (lightbox, 50mm 1.8 w/macro extension tube), brought it into photoshop, inverted it, color-corrected it (it's provia 100 xpro film), then did a multitude of other things to get it where it is. Analog loves digital and digital loves analog. You can see the full picture here: www.flickr.com/photos/bluegoostudios/5552308202/in/photos...
